Goong Joong Tteok Bokki (Soy Sauce Rice Cakes)

Marinade for tteok bokki



  1. Pour marinade sauce on beef, mix well, and let it marinate for 20-30 min.
  2. Boil a small pot of water and blanch the rice cakes (~30 sec-1 min).
  3. Drain and mix in a little sesame oil so the rice cakes don’t stick together while you let it rest (This process lets the rice cakes cook through and you will have soft, chewy rice cakes afterward).
  4. Add a little oil to a pan.
  5. Start cooking the beef first.
  6. Add the onions and sautee.
  7. After a couple of minutes, add the rest of the vegetables.
  8. Add the rice cakes and pour the marinade.
  9. Add 1-2 sp of water and cook on medium-high heat for a few min.
  10. Mix frequently and cook until veggies are done.
  11. Drizzle ½ sp of sesame oil and mix once more.
  12. Sprinkle garnish and serve.
